The next game in the Ystari Games line is Olympos. Designed by Philippe Keyaerts (Vinci, Small World…), the game duration is about 75 mn, and Arnaud Demaegd took care of the illustrations.
Based on their position on a time track, players take actions with the choices being expansion or development. Expanding brings new settlers onto the game board, depicting Greece and Atlantis, which lets you conquer territories and thereby acquire resources. Development takes place on the game’s discovery board, with players either buying new scientific discoveries (astronomy, horse riding, polytheism, strategy…) or building architectural wonders. Each discovery brings you new powers, such as an upgrade in military strength due to the phalanx, and each wonder grants you prestige points.
A player’s piety is measured by a few discoveries and a specific territory: Mount Olympus. The most pious player might be rewarded during the game by oneof the nine gods included. Conversely, the less pious player(s) might be punished by those same gods.
Olympos will hit the shelves at the end of May, but the rules will be available soon.
